RealVMS includes a very simple way for you to easily add any post you make to social bookmarking services such as Del.icio.us and Faves.
Under the “Social Bookmarks” section of RealVMS you’ll notice a form which simply asks you to enter in your username and password information for a couple social bookmarking services you may or may not be already using.
Social Bookmarking services such as Del.icio.us are a simple way to inform the world about a post you’ve made on your website, they provide a link back to your post and give you the opportunity for others to pick-up and notice your work.
This feature of RealVMS is completely optional and is not required, it is also not required for you to enter in your username and password if your manually making a post to your website or blog. However if you would like to use this feature in the automation section of RealVMS then you need to enter in your account information on this page.
The reason why we don’t require you to enter in your information in order to manually make a post using RealVMS is because of a possible security warning you should know about.
Normally when you fill in a password into a website form like the one in the “Social Bookmarking” section your password gets stored in the database as a bunch of random numbers and letters which cannot be reverted back into your password.
For instance a password such as “Wordpress” will be converted and stored in the database as “a5g4re5fgasd56ta4jy1gfd5″ or something similar which adds a level of security to your passwords.
When adding your passwords in the “Social Bookmarking” section of RealVMS we are unable to add this extra level of password encryption which means that when you type in a password such as “Wordpress” it gets stored in the database as just that the text “Wordpress”.
We have to store your passwords as plain text because of the way the social bookmarking services work, they require your passwords in plain text so if we were to convert them then this feature of the plugin would simply not work.
To sum it up if you are comfortable storing your social bookmarking passwords in the database as plain text then your more then welcome to do so in this section, however we only require you do to so if you would like to use this featuring when using the automation section of RealVMS.
