The general settings section of the RealVMS plugin is the central place to edit some quick default values for how the plugin interacts with your website.
In this section you’ll notice two options which determine how your videos will be displayed on your website. You should know that it’s not usually a good idea to display a lot of videos on the same page of your website because if the user clicks play and pause on a few of those videos they will begin to experience very slow interactions with your website which can quickly turn anyone away.
To avoid a possible bad user experience when dealing with lots of videos on a single page is to simply display a thumbnail image of the videos instead of the actual video, then enable the user to click on that image and be presented with a single post page which displays only one or two videos, this will ensure that the user experiences no slow interactions with your website.
The first two options in the “General Settings” section of RealVMS enable this type of interaction. To put it simply if you want to show lots of posts on the same page but don’t want a slow user experience you can select the first option in the “General Settings” section which is called “Display Image On Everything But Single Page?” so instead of the video being displayed on any page (Other then the single page) it will show the video thumbnail instead and once the user visits the single page then the thumbnail is no longer displayed, instead the video is displayed.
By default the user is not able to click on the video image, however this is what the second check box is used for, if you select this option as well as the first option then the video thumbnail image will become a link to that post, so when they click on the video thumbnail they are brought to the single page where the video is displayed.
The last options on this screen is the video size, I suggest you leave these sizes the same however if you want to change them you can.
If you already have videos added to your site, changing the size options will not effect those videos, instead it will only effect new videos that get added to your website.
